ServerPlex MSP Contract
Success Story...

Joseph & Brown Law Offices implemented a network comprising two servers and 20 client computers. They also had 5 mobile computers connecting over a virtual private network (VPN). All the information related to clients and legal documents was stored on one of the servers while the other was used to manage user accounts and onsite and offsite user connections.

However, as it is at all law firms, they did not have enough time to perform regular maintenance of their computer network. This led to frequent computer crashes and lost of important data that not only added to client frustrations but also affected the deadlines of their projects. Earlier, the Law Office resorted to seek external technical help to get their systems up, when ever they had a problem. But, this led to huge expenditures that were swiftly eating into their profits.

Then, they heard about the SeverPlex’s $600 per month managed service provider (MSP) program from one of our prestigious clients and decided to give it a try. Our experienced technicians quickly did a thorough edit of their infrastructure and tracked down a deadly virus that was stealthily but quickly spreading across their systems.

Our technicians quickly got into action and used various troubleshooting techniques and effective antivirus programs to sweep their systems clean. Had we not removed the virus on time, the entire computer network at Joseph & Brown Law Offices was on its way to doom. The virus not only would have caused them to lose a lot of precious data, but would have caused physical damage to the computer systems that would have cost thousands of dollars just to get systems back up.

Mr. Brown says, “Adding ServerPlex's Managed Services has been like increasing our staff by 25 percent—staff that is completely focused on keeping our computer network up and running.

We now enjoy the multifold benefits of automated 24/7 monitoring service offered by ServerPlex and know that the experienced technical staff at ServerPlex is keeping a constant eye on our network and they are all equipped to prevent disasters even before they happen. We can now direct all our focus on our work and critical cases and leave all worries about our computer network and its functioning to ServerPlex. In other words, ServerPlex helps us keep our business up and running smoothly.”

US Presidential Campaign
2008: Goes Hi-Tech

The Internet has changed the face of US presidential elections 2008.  Findings of a recently conducted survey show that almost 26% of Americans resort to Internet as their first or second source of news related to presidential elections. Among young Americans between 18 and 29, the Internet is becoming the most popular primary source for election news with television losing its popularity. According to figures, where in 2004 only 21% of young Americans cited Internet as their primary source of information for electoral news, in 2008 the percentage has increased to a whopping 60%. The three most popular sites that Americans looks for elections news are, MSNBC, CNN, and Yahoo News. Even social networking Web sites, such as My Space and Face Book and online videos Website, such as You Tube are also becoming good online source of information for people.

Online Campaigns

The popularity of Internet among Americans gave electoral candidates a new medium to communicate with their audience.

Social Networking

With one out of five Americans being the member of a social networking Website, such as My Space or Facebook, presidential candidates saw the need to use these Websites as a mode to deliver their messages to the people. Survey results indicate that 27% of young Americans received information related to presidential candidates and the electoral campaign through these social networking Websites.

What’s more one out of every ten American under the 30 claim that they have made friends with a candidate on a Website. It is interesting to note the following statistics:

Presidential Candidate

No. of Friends on My Space

No. of Friends on Facebook

Barack Obama

234,000

271,000

Hillary Clinton

169,000

81,000

John McCain

42,000

30,000

Although, the numbers are less for older Americans, who still prefer to opt for other traditional sources, such as Television and printed media, we still have one in five Americans between the ages of 30 and 39 on a social networking site. Out of these, around 4% received information about election campaign through the site.

Online Videos

Online videos of speeches, debates, interviews, and commercials by electoral candidates have also played an important role in the whole campaign process. More than 30% of Americans under the age 30 have seen some type of election video online. Although the percentage goes down as the age group increases, even then a considerable 7% of Americans falling in ages 65 or older have seen some sort on online video content.

Gadgets

At this point, it is interesting to note that Microsoft has introduces sidebar gadgets for Obama, Clinton and McCain that you can add to your Windows Vista desktop. These gadgets are designed to take you to homepage of each candidate and enable you to easily have a look at news related to them and go through their policies and commitments.

Finally, the question is whether the Internet and technology make a difference in elections results, or we will just keep buzzing about it until the election. Well, for the answer, let’s wait until November.

The Meaning of Easter

Easter is fast approaching. Most of us are out purchasing baskets, candies and several types of goodies to surprise our children on Christmas morning. Easter is always associated with fun and joy all covered up in bright colors and cheery decorations. But, amidst all this, it is important for all of us to realize the true meaning of Easter and pass it on to our children.

Easter symbolizes Jesus Christ's victory over death, His resurrection that represents the eternal life that is granted to all His believers. Easter also marks the complete verification of all of Jesus’ preaching and teaching during His three-year ministry. If He had just died and not resurrected, He would have been assumed to be just another teacher or Rabbi. But, His resurrection provided indisputable proof that He was really the Son of God and that He had conquered death.

Easter was not always celebrated to symbolize Christ's resurrection from the dead. It was originally a pagan celebration of renewal and rebirth. The festival was celebrated in spring to honor pagan Saxon goddess Eastre. When Saxons where converted to Christianity by early missionaries this traditional pagan festival—as it fell around the same time—was merged with traditional memorial of Jesus’ resurrection and was called Easter.
